Bengaluru, February 18: The hearing of the Hijab case is continuing in the Karnataka High Court. After hearing the arguments of all the parties on Friday, the court adjourned the hearing of the matter till Monday.
A bench of Chief Justice Rituraj Awasthi, Justice Krishna S Dixit and Justice JM Khaji has been hearing the matter continuously since February 14.
During the hearing that began at 2.30 pm on Friday, Advocate General Prabhuling Navadgi, appearing for the government, said that hijab is not a necessary part of Islam. He sought time to explain the reasons that compelled the state government to issue guidelines regarding wearing of uniforms to the students. The bench accepted his point of view and adjourned the hearing till 2.30 pm on Monday.
It is noteworthy that the court has already heard nine petitions from the girl students and parents.
