Kiev, February 24: The exodus of people from the Ukrainian capital Kiev has intensified after the Russian attack. Clouds of smoke are being seen over Kiev. Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy has also issued an advisory for Indians stranded in Ukraine. A Ukrainian Airlines plane with 182 Indian nationals has left for Delhi from Ukraine. Russian tanks have also entered Ukraine after the missile attacks.
The Ukrainian capital, Kiev, has been shaken by the bombings that followed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement of an attack on Ukraine. There are clouds of smoke from the bomb blasts.
Russia has claimed that it has destroyed Ukraine’s airbase and air defense. Russian attacks in Ivano, Ukraine are still ongoing.
However, amidst these attacks, sirens sounded in Kiev and people started running here and there. Long queues of expressway cars were seen trying to leave Kiev. Meanwhile, an advisory has been issued by the Indian Embassy in Ukraine for the Indian citizens living there.
The advisory said that the situation in Ukraine is very uncertain. In such a situation, people who are where they are, stay there. Appealing citizens to remain calm, wherever they are, stay safe. Those travelling to Ukraine’s capital Kiev or those arriving from West Kiev have been advised to return to the city where they are staying.
The Indian Embassy has said that the work of issuing further information and advice for citizens will be done.
Meanwhile, a Ukrainian Airlines plane with 182 Indian nationals has left for Delhi from Ukraine. Two days ago, an Air India plane carrying 242 Indian nationals from Ukraine to Delhi arrived. Ukraine’s airspace is currently closed. In such a situation, other avenues are being sought to rescue the stranded Indians.
Some additional Russian-speaking officials have been sent to Ukraine. They will also be deployed in neighboring countries adjacent to Ukraine. At present, the Embassy of India in Ukraine is open.
