New Delhi, March 10: The results of five states of the country namely Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur have become clear. According to the trends, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is returning with a majority in four states. At the same time, defeating the Congress in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is going to form the government with a big majority.
The BJP is getting a clear majority in the country’s largest state Uttar Pradesh in terms of population. However, its seats have decreased compared to the last time. In Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party seems to be getting 248 seats and its ally Apna Dal (Sonelal) 11 seats and Nirbal Indian Shoshit Hamara Aam Dal 7 seats.
While the main opposition Samajwadi Party seems to be getting 119 seats, its ally Rashtriya Lok Dal is getting 8 seats and Sukhdev Bhartiya Samaj Party is getting 5 seats.
In Uttar Pradesh, Swami Prasad Maurya, who left the BJP and joined the SP, has lost his seat. Pankaj Singh has won from Noida by a record more than 1 lakh 79 thousand votes.
The AAP is going to form the government in Punjab with a big majority. The party has won and is leading in 92 seats in the state. The Congress, on the other hand, could get only 18 seats. Apart from this, three seats have been given to Akali Dal, two to Bharatiya Janata Party, one to Bahujan Samaj Party and one seat to independents.
All the former Chief Ministers contesting elections in Punjab have faced defeat. Outgoing Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has lost from both the seats. Apart from this, Captain Amarinder Singh and Parkash Singh Badal failed to save their seats.
Similarly, the Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu, Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal also could not save their seats. Chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann won from Dhuri seat of Sangrur in the state.
The BJP seems to be getting a clear majority in Uttarakhand. The party is close to winning 47 out of 70 assembly seats in the state. 19 seats for the Congress Party, two for the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and two seats are seen going to the independent candidates. However, from here Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Congress President Harish Rawat have lost their respective seats.
The BJP is one seat behind the majority in Goa. It has secured 20 seats in the 40-member assembly.
Apart from this, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) got 2 seats and Independents got 3 seats. With them the BJP is going to stake claim to form the government in the state.
In Goa, Congress got 11 seats, the AAP got two seats, Goa Forward Party got one seat and Revolutionary Goa Party got one seat.
The Bharatiya Janata Party is also seen getting a clear majority in the 60 assembly seats of Manipur. The party is winning or leading on 31 seats, four seats for Congress, six for Janata Dal United, nine for National People’s Party, five for Naga People’s Front, two for Kuki People’s Alliance and three for independents. Here Chief Minister N Biren Singh has won from Hingang seat.
