Lucknow, March 11: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached Raj Bhavan on Friday evening and submitted his resignation to the Governor Anandiben Patel.
Before resigning, Chief Minister Yogi held a cabinet meeting. After that he went straight to the Raj Bhavan. He was accompanied by BJP state president Swatantra Dev Singh. There he submitted his resignation to the Governor Anandiben Patel.
After resigning, Yogi Adityanath has now started preparing for the swearing-in ceremony.
According to the information received from the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) office, the formation of a new government is possible before Holi.
Therefore, an exercise has started from the Chief Minister’s office and residence to Raj Bhavan. Senior officials of the Secretariat also held a meeting with Chief Minister Yogi in this regard today.
In this meeting, Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary Home Awanish Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary Information Navneet Sehgal, Additional Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister SP Goyal and Director General of Police (DGP) Mukul Goyal and other officers were present.
The tenure of the current Yogi government is ending on May 15, but the assembly election results have come. In such a situation, the work of formation of a new government can be completed even before Holi. Chief Minister Yogi has resigned from his post today.
Sources say that for the formation of the new government, many leaders including Yogi and the BJP state president will go to Delhi to meet the party leadership and take a meeting with the top party leaders there and decide on the formation of the new government.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also likely to attend this meeting. After their return from Delhi, the election of the leader of the legislature party will be held in the meeting of BJP MLAs and after that there will be swearing-in programs of the Chief Minister and other ministers.
Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda and Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states are also likely to attend the swearing-in program of the new government.
Significantly, in the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls of the 403-seats, the BJP alliance got 273 seats with a thumping majority.
On the other hand, the Samajwadi Party alliance as the main opposition party has won 125 seats. Congress got only two seats, BSP got one and others got two seats.
