Lucknow, March 16: 20 nomination papers were filed for the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council elections on Wednesday. Six papers had been filed. In this way, 26 nomination papers have been filed for 36 seats so far.

State Chief Electoral Officer Ajay Kumar Shukla told here today that so far one from Rampur-Bareilly, one from Hardoi, three from Kheri, one from Lucknow-Unnao, two from Pratapgarh, one from Sultanpur, one from Barabanki, one from Bahraich. , one from Azamgarh-Mau, three from Varanasi, two from Prayagraj, one from Jhansi-Jalaun-Lalitpur, two from Kanpur-Fatehpur, one from Etawah Farrukhabad, three from Agra-Firozabad, one from Bulandshahr and one from Meerut-Ghaziabad. Letters have been filed.

It is worth noting that the process of conducting elections for 36 seats in the local authority area in the UP Legislative Council in two phases is underway. Notification for 30 seats in 29 constituencies was issued on February 4 itself, while the notification for election of six seats was issued on Tuesday.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer, the last date for nomination in the first phase is on March 19. The scrutiny of nomination papers is on March 21 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is March 23.

At the same time, for the second phase seats, the papers will be filled by March 22. Scrutiny of nomination papers is on 23 March and last date for withdrawal of nominations is 25 March. Polling for both the phases is scheduled on April 9 and counting of votes on April 12.
