Rae Bareli, 21 March: The Congress party is going through the worst phase of politics in Sonia Gandhi’s parliamentary constituency. The party, which is already out in the assembly elections, does not have a candidate for the MLC election. This is the first time after independence that the Congress has been eliminated in the MLC elections of its own bastion.

The nomination deadline passed on Monday and no one from the Congress filed nominations.

Experts say that Congress did not have any candidate to contest in this election. Due to which the party was forced to stay out.

Notably, the Congress has not fielded any candidate from the Rae Bareli local authority area. In the recently concluded assembly elections, the Congress has performed poorly in all the six seats in the district. The party has not even been able to come into the contest on any of the seats. The worst performance has been in Unchahar, Sadar and Salon seats.

Therefore, frustrated and disappointed by the assembly election results, the Congress has decided not to contest the MLC election. Or rather, the Congress has not been able to find any strong candidate for MLC in its stronghold and Rae Bareli, the parliamentary constituency of the party’s national president Sonia Gandhi. For the Congress, this message from Rae Bareli is going to disturb the Congress on the national stage as well.

Five nominated including BJP, SP

A total of five candidates filed their nominations for the elections to the local authority area. On Monday, the last day of nominations, BJP, SP and three independent candidates have filed their nominations.

Present MLC Dinesh Pratap Singh has filed nomination as a BJP candidate. The BJP candidate, who reached the nomination room with a long team, told the media that the party’s policy and customs would bring him success.

On the other hand, SP’s district president Engineer Virendra Yadav has also filed his nomination after reaching the party MLAs. He said that in the assembly elections, the party has won four seats in the district so that their victory is certain.

On the other hand, Salon resident Virendra Kumar and Unchahar area panchayat member Manish Kaushal have nominated as independent candidates. Kaushal is also the state office bearer of the BDC members’ organization. On the other hand Surendra Bahadur Singh has also claimed as independent.
