LUCKNOW, 06 APRIL: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is going to give a big gift of more than 50 thousand shallow tube wells to the small and marginal farmers in its second term.

Therefore, with better irrigation facilities, agricultural production will increase and farmers will become rich. It is the resolve of the government to ensure the availability of sufficient water for irrigation. In this work, 50,358 shallow tube wells will be constructed for small marginal farmers at a cost of Rs 46.58 crore. Private irrigation facility will also be made available by giving benefit of HDP pipe and pump set etc.

A spokesperson of the state government said that the Yogi government, in its first term, made great efforts to remove the problems faced by the farmers in agriculture. The government completed irrigation projects pending for years so that farmers do not have to face water crisis for irrigation. Now taking this work forward, the government is going to start the construction work of more than 50 thousand shallow tube wells. Under the scheme, shallow tube wells up to 30 meters deep are constructed from PVC pipe of 110 mm diameter. All categories of farmers are eligible in the deep boring scheme of the Minor Irrigation Department.

The spokesman said that even in the earlier tenure, the Yogi government has done boring in the fields of farmers from 61 to 90 meters depth. After the boring became functional, the farmers have worked to irrigate about 12 hectares of fields per bore. Let us inform that in the financial year 2020-21, a total of 11,866 under the component Har Khet Ko Pani and 70,838 inverted tube wells under the Chief Minister’s Small Irrigation Scheme have been constructed in the state.

An official spokesperson said that the UP government, committed to take the development works forward in the state at a faster pace, has started working faster in its second innings. Big preparations are being made to expand irrigation facilities for the farmers. Providing free electricity to farmers for irrigation is also included in his resolutions.

“Preparations are being made to provide grants for construction of borewells, tubewells, ponds and tanks to all small and marginal farmers. Solar pumps are also being distributed to the farmers by the government,” he added.
