LUCKNOW, 07 APRIL: The review meeting of the Excise Department was held on Thursday in the auditorium of the Sugarcane Institute.
In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy presented the account before the departmental minister Nitin Agarwal.
He informed that the Excise Department has received Rs 36,208.44 crore till March 2022 which is 20.45 percent more than the previous year and there has been an increase in revenue.
Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy said that till March 2022, a total of 78,544 accused were apprehended as compared to 59,915 accused in the same period last year. In the same period, 27.87 and 8.528 persons were sent to jail.
He told the officers in front of the Excise Minister that all the departmental officers should ensure to work actively as a team. According to the intention of the state government, the given target has to be fulfilled.
He bluntly said that mischief and dishonesty will not be tolerated at all. All the district officers should inspect the shops regularly, so that illegal liquor and other illegal activities can be stopped immediately.
After this, Excise Minister Nitin Agarwal said that work has to be done on the policy of zero tolerance. The officers posted in the districts should work only by following the rules, any negligence or wrong action taken by them will not be tolerated. Enforcement work should be made more effective and strict action should be taken against the guilty by completely curbing the production of illicit liquor.
He directed to stop the trade of liquor coming from other neighbouring states without paying customs duty with immediate effect. Along with this, instructions were also given to ensure regular checking of shops.
Special secretary Excise Nidhi Gupta Vats, Excise Commissioner Senthil Pandian C, Additional Excise Commissioner Divya Prakash Giri, along with key officers and officers from the districts were present in the meeting.
