Precaution dose for 18 yrs above: Pvt hospitals will not be able to charge a service fee of more than Rs 150 over Covid-19 vaccine, Union Health Ministry

New Delhi, April 09: With the permission to apply booster dose i.e. precautionary dose for all people above 18 years in the country, the Union Health Ministry has fixed the rates of service charge for private hospitals.

According to the ministry, no private hospital will be able to charge a service charge of more than Rs 150 for the anti-corona vaccine. Private hospitals will not be able to charge a service charge more than Rs 150 along with the cost of the vaccine.

On the other hand, Serum Institute of India (SII) and Bharat Biotech on Saturday reduced the price of booster dose of Corona.

SII CEO Adar Poonawalla said that Serum Institute has decided to reduce the cost of Covidshield vaccine from Rs 600 to Rs 225 for private hospitals. At the same time, the price of Bharat Biotech’s vaccine has been reduced from Rs 1200 to Rs 225.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan on Saturday held a meeting with all the states regarding vaccination and reviewed the ongoing vaccination program in the states. The Health Secretary said that there is no need to register separately on Cowin app for the booster dose. With this, the ministry has clarified that the people to whom the first and second doses have been given, the precautionary dose should also be given by the same company.
