GHAZIABAD, April 16: Rapid Rail Project (RRP) is continuously gaining momentum. In order to build the viaduct, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has set up a steel girder span of 45 meters and 350 tonnes to cross the Duhai-Kundli slip road of the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE).

This steel span is securely placed between two pillars on either side of the EPE cut without obstructing traffic. Under the construction of this viaduct, a second steel span of 45 meters will also be installed in the next few days.

According to NCRTC spokesperson Puneet Vats, a few meters before the EPE crossing at Duhai on the main road going from Delhi to Meerut, the slip road of EPE from Duhai to Kundli is passing on the left, with the help of which the slip road of Kundli from Ghaziabad side is passing. The vehicles on the way are mounted on the EPE without any hindrance.

He added, the viaduct being constructed for the movement of RRTS trains at Duhai depot is passing over this slip road of EPE. For this reason, steel girder spans have been installed in place of viaduct segments between them by making two pillars on either side of the slip road to cross the slip road of EPE.

Puneet Vats said that the length of the segments made of concrete for the viaduct is about 37 meters, but there is a gap of 45 meters between these two pillars, so a steel girder span of 45 meters has been installed here. High strength steel has been used to make this span. This steel girder span will enable trains to move safely and smoothly to the milking depot.

โ€œAlong with this, there is another EPE slip road on the same viaduct and to cross this slip road, another steel girder span of 45 meters is to be installed soon. This too will be installed in the next few days,โ€ Vats stated.
