GORAKHPUR, 30 April: Tourists in Gorakhpur are soon going to get the gift of a natural ‘picnic spot’. ‘Nagar Van’ will be developed in 50 hectares in Ramgarh Compartment No.-2, a reserved forest in Rajhi beat of Tinkoniya range here.
Not only this, there is a plan to develop 25 ‘Nagar Van’ and ‘Nagar Vatika’ in 12 other districts as well. The people of the state are going to get this gift on World Environment Day.
According to the wishes of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the scope of eco-tourism in the state will be further expanded. Five districts including Gorakhpur are going to get the gift of Nagar Van (City Forest). Through Nagar Van, tourists will get to enjoy natural picnic spots. It is expected that on June 05, on World Environment Day, the Prime Minister will do a virtual launch of Nagar Forest. The ‘Nagar Van’ of Gorakhpur will be built on 50 hectares in Ramgarh Compartment No.-2, a reserved forest village in Rajhi Beat of Tinkoniya range.
The site in Gorakhpur for Nagar Van is adjacent to Budhiya Mata Mandir and Vinod Van. There is also a rest house of the Forest Department here. In such a situation, it can be developed as a great eco-tourism destination. Two crore rupees will be spent on developing city forest in 50 hectares.
Apart from the approved city forest plan in Gorakhpur, another city forest plan has also been proposed in Suba Beat on Gorakhpur Deoria road. Both the sites marked here have sakhu and teak forest. This will be done keeping in mind the vision of making people aware about environmental protection. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also be present in the launch of this city forest.
Under the tree plantation drive 2022, the Forest and Environment Department has planned the development of 25 city forests and city gardens in 13 districts of the state. Apart from Rajhi in Gorakhpur, city forests will be created in Karetha in Agra, Bhagwantpura in Jhansi, Bhadokhar Iksana in Rae Bareli and Sihali in Amroha. For this the approval of National Afforestation and Environment Development Board has been obtained.
Centre will give two crores: For city forest, the central government will give two crore rupees for each project to the State Forest Development Agency from the National CAMPA’s corpus fund. This amount will be available at the rate of Rs 4 lakh per hectare. The forest areas will be protected with boundary wall and fencing. ‘Smriti Van’, ‘Arogya Vatika’, ‘Nakshatra Vatika’ and ‘Harishankari Vatika’ will be made. Through these people will be told about the importance of trees and plants in the creation.
Not only this, many types of ornamental, shrubs, vines, medicinal, flower and fruit plants will be planted in the city forest for biodiversity. Public facilities including adventure sports, cycle track, pathways, open gym, Joggers Park, benches will also be developed here.
