Lucknow, 02 May: Yogi Government is planning to work on a concrete strategy to get rid of power shortage for the people of Uttar Pradesh.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in a meeting with high officials here on Monday, said that there is a need for comprehensive reforms in the energy sector. Keeping in view the power consumption in future, work should be done on preparing an action plan.
The Chief Minister said that uninterrupted power supply should be ensured in all 75 districts as per the roster. All possible help is being given from the central government. Rail as well as road should be used for transportation of coal from mines to power plants. There is a huge need for reforms in the energy sector. Action plan should be prepared keeping in view the future energy needs. At the level of the departmental minister, while thoroughly reviewing the functioning of the department, efforts should be made for comprehensive changes at every level.
Yogi further stated, consumers should be encouraged for timely payment of electricity bills. For this it is necessary that people get the right bill and get it on time. Overbilling, false billing or late billing causes inconvenience to the consumer.
He said, to improve this system, the Energy Department will have to make a concrete action plan to increase the billing and collection efficiency. Special efforts are needed in rural areas.
The Chief Minister said that a one-time settlement scheme should be brought for payment of electricity bill arrears. The scheme should be such, in which people get exemption from interest on arrears; there should be facility of payment in instalment. Action in this regard is expected at the earliest.
