Lucknow, May 10: Associate Professor Ravikant, who made controversial remarks in the Gyanvapi majsid case on TV debate, has apologized.
As soon as the university opened in the morning, the activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) wanted to meet Professor Ravikant in the said matter but he refused to meet and went to the Chief Proctor’s office and sat down.
The activists of the Vidyarthi Parishad, who were adamant on the dismissal of Ravi Kant, Associate Professor of Hindi Department of Lucknow University, were assured disciplinary action against Prof Ravikant by the local police administration and university officials including the Chief Proctor, but the activists did not agree to a point. They raised slogans in protest.
On this, University administration reassured them to take stern action against Professor Ravikant.
After this the police was called on the spot. In the presence of sub-inspectors and constables, protest turned intense. Then the university administration intervened there. Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor’s office was also informed.
Anshul, the provincial organization minister of the ABVP, has said that the protest will continue till the dismissal of the associate professor in the said case.
Apologizing after coming under pressure from the ABVP protest, Ravikant said that if anyone has been hurt by his words, he apologizes for that.
It is worth mentioning that Prof Ravikant said in a news channel debate on Monday that a queen was raped under the sanctum sanctorum of Kashi Vishwanath temple, after which Aurangzeb in anger ordered the temple to be demolished.
After the controversial statement of Prof Ravikant, he was badly trolled on various social media platforms.
