Chandigarh, May 17: Due to the continuous incidents of Pakistani drone infiltration and gang war in Punjab, the Director General of Police has urged the Home Ministry to deploy 10 battalions of paramilitary forces in Punjab.
The DGP has written a letter in this regard to the Union Home Ministry. Opposition political parties have surrounded the government on this action of the Punjab government.
Meanwhile, incidents of gang war, Pakistani drone infiltration have increased in Punjab during the last two months. Due to all these incidents, Punjab Director General of Police VK Bhavra has written to the Union Home Ministry demanding the deployment of ten companies of paramilitary forces in Punjab.
The DGP argued that the action of spreading unrest from across the border is increasing continuously. In such a situation, the deployment of paramilitary forces is necessary.
On the issue of Punjab government seeking help from the Centre, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Amarinder Singh Raja Vading said that there is still time for Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to leave Punjab CM’s concern and deploy Punjab Police personnel in Punjab’s security.
On the other hand, former Punjab Chief Minister and Punjab Lok Congress President Captain Amarinder Singh said that the state is facing tough security challenges during the tenure of AAP government. When the central government had increased the BSF’s area from 15 km to 30 km last year, the AAP had opposed it.
Amarinder Singh said that those opposing the decision of the Center have now come to know the value of this decision themselves.
