Ghaziabad, May 19: A special CBI court on Thursday sentenced the convict Surender Koli to death in the infamous Nithari case.
However, in this case, convicted Moninder Singh Pandher was sentenced to seven years in the case of prostitution. The court has imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 on Koli and Rs 4,000 on Pandher.
This was the last 16th case in the Nithari serial murder case. Koli has been sentenced to death in earlier cases. Till now only one case was to be hanged in Meerut after the mercy petition was rejected by the President, but due to delay, the Supreme Court cancelled the hanging.
The court sentenced Koli to the sections of murder and concealment of evidence after raping the girl, while Pandher was convicted under sections of illegal prostitution.
According to the prosecution, a person resident of Udham Singh Nagar district in Uttarakhand had come to Gautam Budh Nagar district of UP in the year 2005 in search of a job. His daughter Dabhi was looking for a job for herself. It is alleged that on May 7, 2006, her daughter was called by Moninder Singh Pandher for a job, after which she did not return home.
On May 8, 2006, the father had lodged a missing complaint of the daughter at the Noida Police Station Sector 20. On August 24 2006, on the orders of Gautam Buddha Nagar Court, a case of kidnapping was registered against Moninder Singh Pandher and Surendra Koli.
During the investigation, the police recovered the missing girl’s mobile from Surendra Koli.
After this, the police strictly interrogated Pandher and Koli, then the body of the girl was recovered from the drain of Di-5 Kothi located in village Nithari. This was confirmed by DNA test. The matter was pending in the special court of CBI Judge Rakesh Tripathi. Earlier, the court had acquitted Sub Inspector Simranjit Kaur for lack of evidence.
