Srinagar, May 25: Parts of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) have been kept shutdown after banned terrorist outfit Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik has been sentenced rigorous life imprisonment by the NIA court in terror funding case on Wednesday.

Due to the fear of disturbing the peace in the Kashmir Valley by mischievous elements, the security system in the Kashmir Valley has been further tightened by the administration.

Apart from Kashmir, special barricading has also been put in place in Jammu. Army, police and paramilitary forces have been put on high alert. Drones are being monitored at Yasin’s house.

Most shops and business establishments have been closed in Maisuma and adjoining areas, including parts of Lal Chowk. Security forces have been deployed in large numbers in the city to maintain law and order.

Meanwhile, some supporters of Yasin Malik, who pushed the youth of Kashmir to the path of terrorism, on Wednesday in desperation, threw stones at the security forces and also raised slogans, but they were immediately dealt with by the security forces. Near Yasin’s house, supporters shouted slogans and said that ‘You will kill many Yasin, Yasin will come out from every house’.

However, on behalf of the administration, police personnel, CRPF and paramilitary forces have been deployed as a precaution in the surrounding areas including Yasin Malik’s house in Maisuma. Apart from this, the help of drones is also being taken to keep an eye on Yasin’s house.

Kashmir IG K Vijay Kumar said that tight security arrangements have been made in every corner of Kashmir. Kashmiri youth have understood that they have been taken on the wrong path. This is the reason that at this time every place and garden of Kashmir is full of tourists.

Dilbag Singh, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police told that elaborate security arrangements have been made in every district of the state. Security agencies are on high alert. Vigilance has also been increased in the border areas.

Apart from the Kashmir Valley, security forces have been put on high alert across the city including the border areas of Jammu division. Security at each of the nakas has been further beefed up. CRPF personnel, including Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel, have been specially deployed along the Nagrota to Sidra, Panjtirthi road in Jammu. Security arrangements have been beefed up at all the religious places in the state and other vulnerable places.

It is worth mentioning that Yasin Malik was convicted by the NIA court on May 19 under the stringent Anti-Terrorism Act in a case related to the financing of terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
