SRINAGAR, 26 May: So far this year, 78 terrorists have been killed by the security forces during the ongoing anti-terrorist operations in the Kashmir Valley. Of these, 26 are foreign terrorists. During this, 43 terrorists have been caught alive with weapons.
IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar told reporters on Thursday that the common people are fully cooperating with the security forces in freeing the valley from terrorists. Whenever the local people notice any suspicious activity around them, they inform the nearest security post at the same time.
Kumar further added, apart from this, the intelligence network of police and other security agencies has also become better than before. Due to this, accurate information is being received about the locations of the terrorists and the operations being run against them are continuously being successful.
The IGP said that 50 encounters have taken place between security forces and terrorists in the Kashmir Valley since January 1 this year. Of the 78 terrorists killed, 26 were foreign terrorists. These include three Pakistani terrorists killed in Jumgund Kupwara today.
He said that 14 of the foreign terrorists killed were from Jaish-e-Mohammed, while 12 others were associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba.
He said that if you compare the number of terrorists killed in the first five months of this year with the number of foreign terrorists killed in the Kashmir Valley during the first five months of last year, then you yourself will find that this time more foreign terrorists were killed.
He said that on the basis of this, it can be said that the number of local terrorists is continuously decreasing and they do not want to follow the path of gun.
He stated that due to this, foreign terrorists now want to continue the conspiracy to spread chaos in Kashmir by coming out of their bases, but our security forces are fully alert, terrorists whether they are local or foreign, there is a chance to spoil the situation. If not found, they will all be killed.
The IGP further said that 43 terrorists with the help of other security agencies have also been apprehended by the police in different parts of the Kashmir Valley. Further action is being taken against them under the relevant law.
