UP: 71,114 loudspeakers removed from religious places, volume of 58,180 lowered

Lucknow, May 28: The state of Uttar Pradesh is already setting an example in front of the country in curbing loudspeakers sound.

In this episode, over 1.29 lakh loudspeakers have either been removed or their voice has been reduced in the state.

When the drive to remove the loudspeakers was launched, people of all religions voluntarily removed additional loudspeakers from their religious places. During a campaign, 71,114 loudspeakers were removed from various religious places. While the sound of 58,180 loudspeakers has been reduced resulting in providing relief to the public.

In another initiative, the government has started the work of putting the removed loudspeakers in the use of schools and public announcements. Over 4371 loudspeakers were given for the morning assembly of schools, while 940 speakers were assigned to the public address system in the area.

It is noteworthy that on April 23, the State Home Department had issued orders to remove loudspeakers from religious places.

The Chief Minister’s instructions were based on an order of the Allahabad High Court and the state authorities were ready to follow the same in letter and spirit.

Thereafter the entire process was conducted peacefully and cordially, maintaining dialogues with the spiritual leaders of different communities.

During the campaign, spiritual leaders were made aware about noise pollution through loudspeakers. Giving a good message to the society, religious leaders gave their support in removing loudspeakers.
