Lucknow, June 14: The process of arrest of stone-pelters who created ruckus after Friday Namaz in eight districts of Uttar Pradesh continued on Tuesday as well.
Till 7 am, 337 rioters have been taken into custody. However, these figures may rise in view of the ongoing action against them.
Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said that ruckus and arson erupted in eight districts of Uttar Pradesh after Friday Namaz. Now the government is taking stringent action against the miscreants. Till Tuesday morning, 92 people have been arrested in Prayagraj, 83 in Saharanpur, 52 in Hathras, 40 in Moradabad, 41 in Ambedkarnagar, 18 in Firozabad, 06 in Aligarh and 05 in Jalaun.
ADG told that in this connection, 13 cases have also been registered in nine districts. There has been one FIR each in Prayagraj-Saharanpur on 03-03 and in other districts.
Kumar apprised that on the basis of CCTV footage and viral video, the rioters were identified and arrested. 13 policemen injured in this ruckus are undergoing treatment. The situation is normal across the state. Vigilance is being taken in the troubled districts.
