New Delhi, 16 June: Under the Agneepath scheme of the Modi government, 10th pass ‘Agniveer’ will be able to get 12th class certificate from National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) during the job. This certificate will be valid for job and higher education across the country.
The Department of School Education and Literacy, through its autonomous institution, National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) and in consultation with defense officials, is launching a special program for 10th pass Agniveers, the Union Education Ministry said in a release on Thursday.
Ministry said, it will be helpful in increasing your educational qualification. A suitable curriculum will be developed for this. This 12th certificate will be recognized throughout the country for both employment and higher education purposes.
Education Ministry further added, this will help the Agnivars acquire sufficient educational qualifications and skills to play a productive role in society later in life. This special program of NIOS will facilitate enrollment, development of courses, student support, and provision of self-learning material, accreditation of study centres, personal contact programme, assessment and certification.
In a series of tweets, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the Department of School Education and Literacy will give a chance to class 10 pass Agniveers to enhance their educational qualifications. The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) will initiate a special program in consultation with the Ministry of Defense to obtain the 12th pass certificate.
He said that the initiative of starting a special program for Agniveers by the Department of School Education and Literacy in consultation with the Ministry of Defense is a welcome step. Under this, 10th pass Agniveer can get 12th class certificate through National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) while pursuing his education.
Pradhan said that the 12th pass certificate of NIOS is recognized all over the country for both job and higher education purposes which will provide various opportunities to the Agniveers to progress in life.
He said that the Union Education Ministry is committed to take forward the Agneepath scheme. Agniveer will play a constructive role in the society by acquiring higher educational qualifications and skills.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Defense has recently announced the “Agneepath” scheme. It is an all India merit-based scheme for recruitment in the three Defence services.
Under this, the youth will be provided an opportunity to serve as “Agniveer” in the armed forces. It will provide an opportunity to the youth to serve in the regular cadre of the Armed Forces for a period of 4 years including training period. Agniveers will be recruited in the age group of 17.5 to 21 years. 10th or 12th pass candidates can apply for the recruitment process.
