Bhopal, June 20: According to astrological principles, Tuesday, June 21, will be the longest day of the year and the shortest night. On this day, due to being perpendicular to the Tropic of Cancer in the northern hemisphere of the Sun, the shadow of people will also disappear with it at 12.28 pm.

Dr Mrityunjay Tiwari, a renowned astrologer and Head of Astrology Department of Kallaji Vedic University, told on Monday that every year on June 21st, the Sun is perpendicular to the Tropic of Cancer in the Northern Hemisphere. The Tropic of Cancer is an imaginary line drawn in the Northern Hemisphere. Tropic of Cancer in India passes through the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

He said that it passes through Ahmedabad in Gujarat, Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Shahdol, Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh, Ranchi in Jharkhand, Hooghly in West Bengal and Banswara city of Rajasthan. On Tuesday afternoon, the shadow over these places will become zero for a few moments. That is, at exactly twelve o’clock in the afternoon, your shadow will not be visible at these places. In observatories you can see this unique astronomical phenomenon directly through the cone instrument.

He apprised that Tuesday would be the longest day of the year and the shortest night. On this day, the sunrise will be at 5:42 am in the morning and the sunset will be at 7.16 pm. Thus the duration of this day will be 13 hours 34 minutes and the duration of the night will be 10 hours 26 minutes. After June 21, the motion of the Sun will be towards the south. This is called the beginning of Dakshinayana. Days after this day will gradually get shorter.
