Varanasi, 26 June: An MTech student of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) BHU committed suicide in the hostel room. The students came to know about the incident due to the foul smell.
On information, along with the police, the officials of the Proctorial Board also reached the hostel. It is believed that the student hanged himself a day or two ago.
Originally a resident of Hathras district, Bhagwan Singh was a second year student of MTech Mechanical Engineering in the IIT BHU. He was allotted Visvesvaraya hostel.
This afternoon, when the students opened the door of the room after hearing a terrible smell emanating from studentโs room, seeing the inside scene, they informed the proctorial board and the police about the incident.
Smelling the smell emanating from the dead body, it was estimated that the student had committed suicide a couple of days ago. Police has started investigating the matter. Why the student took the severe step is not known at the moment.
