Hyderabad, 2 July: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chapter in Telangana has decided to postpone Yogi Adithyanath’s, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh’s, visit to the Bhagya Laxmi temple at Charminar until Sunday due to “important engagements.”

On Saturday afternoon, Yogi Adityanath was scheduled to pay a visit to the temple at Charminar in Hyderabad and offer prayers there.

According to sources with the Hyderabad Police, Yogi Adityanath was advised by the Intelligence Bureau not to go to the Bhagya Laxmi temple at Charminar because of recent events in the wake of the Nupur Sharma controversy.

According to reports, Telangana BJP leaders are unsure if the UP chief minister will go to the temple on Sunday.

The police are on high alert throughout the city because the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be attending the two-day BJP executive meeting. A public gathering will take place at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad on Sunday.

A high level of security has been put in place for VVIP visits to the Bhagya Laxmi temple in Charminar.

On Saturday afternoon, Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, will be among those making a Saturday afternoon prayer visit to the temple.

The Hyderabad police had earlier requested that business owners in the area of โ€‹โ€‹Charminar close their doors until 3 p.m. until the majority of the VVIPs with Z-category security visit the area and depart.

To monitor the area around the Charminar and the route taken by the BJP’s VVIPs, police will be stationed on rooftops nearby. The police will station their officers all along the route to watch over the dignitaries’ path through Hyderabad’s historic centre.

As part of the BJP’s security plans, several hundred police officers, including members of the Rapid Action Force, were also stationed in the old city on Saturday near the Charminar. Public movement will also be restricted around Charminar.
