Noida, 6 July: The authorities have decided not to accept any building development plans here unless they include a charging station for electric vehicles (EV).
According to Noida Authority sources, a decision was made on this, and the Building Manual, 2010, was changed on May 13.
Notably, as of March 25, this year, the country has 10, 76,420 electric cars, and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) reports that 1,742 Public Charging Stations (PCS) are active.
Surat, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai are home to 940 stations. “This action by the Noida Authority will undoubtedly offer a boost to electric vehicles, and people will be more inclined to purchase them,” a Noida-based resident said.
The Centre has also undertaken all-out efforts to improve public charging infrastructure by integrating corporate and public entities such as BEE, EESL, PGCIL, NTPC, and others. Many private organizations have stepped forward to construct EV charging stations in order to establish convenient charging networks and acquire customer trust.
On January 14, this year, the Ministry of Power announced “Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles – the Revised Consolidated Guidelines and Standards” in order to hasten the country’s E-Mobility transition.
The Ministry of Heavy Industries has sanctioned 2,877 public EV charging stations in 68 cities under the Scheme for Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India Phase-II (FAME India Phase II).
