Lucknow, 11 July: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said the state’s population control effort must be successful, but “demographic imbalance” must not occur.
“When we talk about family planning and population stabilization, we have to keep in mind that the population control program must go ahead successfully, but at the same time, a situation of population imbalance should not be allowed to happen,” he said at a function to mark the start of “population control fortnight.
He stated that programs for population stabilization have been in place for the previous five decades. On one level, a population is a societal success, but it will only be an achievement if the society remains healthy and disease-free, he continued.
“If we have skilled manpower, it is a success for society,” the Chief Minister’s office tweeted in Hindi. “However, if there are illnesses, a lack of resources, and disorder, population growth becomes a task on its own.”
Adityanath stated that Uttar Pradesh is the most populated state in the country. “Together with the Health Department, ASHA sisters, Aaganwadi workers, rural pradhans, teachers, and others may work.” A concerted effort is required in this regard. Brajesh Pathak, Deputy Chief Minister, and Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, Minister of State for Health, were also present.
