New Delhi, 15 July: According to a recent circular from the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, protests, dharnas, fasts, and religious celebrations are no longer permitted within the grounds of Parliament House.
The opposition’s fury over the “gag order” prohibiting the use of specific phrases in Parliament has led to criticism of the circular on dharnas from the opposition Congress.
The courteous cooperation of the members is requested, according to the latest bulletin, which was released by Rajya Sabha Secretary General P C Mody ahead of the Monsoon session of Parliament, which will commence on July 18.
The bulletin said that members were not permitted to hold religious ceremonies, hold dharnas, go on strikes, or hold other protests within the Parliament House’s grounds. Jairam Ramesh, the general secretary of the Congress and main whip of the party in the Rajya Sabha, attacked the administration on Twitter.
