Noida, July 19: The iconic Madame Tussauds museum reopened with considerable enthusiasm on Tuesday at its new home at Mall of India in Noida, which had been closed since the Covid-induced lockdown in March 2020.

The wax museum, which was previously housed at Connaught Place’s Regal Building, exhibits around 50 figures from history, sports, music, cinema, and television. Merlin Entertainments owns and operates the national capital venue, which opened in 2017.

“Connaught Place faced a number of challenges, including a shortage of parking, invasion by street hawkers, and traffic congestion. Given the post-pandemic behavioral shifts, we know that individuals are now searching for more safe, sanitary, and pleasant facilities. And, with its regulated atmosphere, our new site Mall of India will deliver the same to our tourists,” said Anshul Jain, GM and director of Merlin Entertainments India Pvt Ltd.

PM Narendra Modi, Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, cricketing legends Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, and Virat Kohli, Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Madhubala, Hollywood actors Tom Cruise and Scarlett Johansson, and singers Asha Bhosle and Shreya Ghoshal are among those featured in the museum’ Children will enjoy popular animation characters like Motu-Patlu.

Hritihik Roshan in a suit and Madhuri Dixit-Nene in a glittering gown, in contrast to their earlier appearances in a sweater and a sari, respectively, are among the cosmetic alterations implemented for the new location.

“Previously, the motif was more along the lines of ‘Bharat plus India,’ but the attraction is now more modern. As a result, the Madame Tussauds here is more comparable to the other 23 locations across the world,” said Jain who went on to call it one of the greatest in South East Asia and the South Pacific. The organizers have stated that they want to introduce a new prominent figure every three months this time around.

“Our attraction currently has a 60:40 split between domestic and foreign celebs. However, given the abundance of celebrities in India, we intend to increase this ratio to 80:20 in the near future “Jain stated that the next two wax sculptures will depict Indian luminaries. The admission charge remains Rs 960 for adults and Rs 760 for kids.
