Kanpur, July 19: Following the notice issued by the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) regarding the illegal construction of the Dawat-e-Islami (DeI) office at plot number 101/233 in Chhote Mian in Colonelganj, the Municipal Corporation and Jalkal department issued a notice of outstanding house and water tax.

According to official sources, two notifications, one from the Municipal Corporation and the other from the Jalkal department, were put on the building on Monday. The DeI office, located in a multi-story structure in Chhote Miyan Ka Hata under the city’s Colonelganj police station, has already come under the scrutiny of the KDA.

Following an inspection by the KDA team, the first notice under Section 27 was given to the landowner on Thursday after he failed to provide the building’s map. It was also found that the landowner had not yet filed the documentation pertaining to the building’s map. The deadline for submitting the same is July 29.

Following that, the sealing and razing will take place.

Swarn Singh, the Municipal Corporation’s enforcement in-charge for Zone Four, has sent a notice of outstanding home tax to the landowners of the DeI office. Tax of Rs 60265 is payable, according to the incharge.

“If the tax is not paid in the Municipal Corporation office within a fortnight, an attachment warrant for the amount shall be issued,” he said.

Similarly, Jalkal’s executive engineer, SK Gupta, has issued a notice of recovery for Rs 78,669 in water tax. The overdue amount is Rs 75,067, with the remainder being the bill for the current fiscal year. “We will cut water connections if dues are not paid,” Gupta added.
