Kanpur, 22 July: Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) has issued demolition orders for seven unlawful buildings owned by builder Haji Wasi, one of the accused in the June 3 riots at Parade and Nai Sadak. Buildings owned by Wasi associates are also under investigation.
“After the alleged anomalies were brought to their notice, the KDA issued a demolition order for these buildings. After an inquiry, action will be taken against the officials and engineers assigned to the authority during the construction of these buildings,” stated a senior official. Officer on special duty Avnish Singh stated that formalities are being carried out to compel action against the unlawful buildings built by Haji Wasi and his aides.
Meanwhile, KDA has yet to receive a response to the notice sent on July 14 to the Dawat-e-Islami office, which is located in the Chhotey Mian Ka Hata locality of Colonelganj.
In this regard, KDA has set a deadline of July 29. “If no response is obtained within the time limit specified, additional action will be taken, which may either lead to seizure or demolition of the Dawat-e-Islami office,” a top official added.
