New Delhi, July 26: Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) Vinay Kumar Saxena has suspended five Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) officials and one Delhi government official. The LG has ordered the suspension of these officers on charges of corruption and abuse of office.
Fifty unauthorised constructions were illegally regularised in the Central Zone of Delhi in the Sub-Registrar’s Office. Earlier, LG had also suspended a JE and AE officer after the Alipore accident. Apart from this, a Bhalswa official was also suspended.
Following officials were suspended:
A.S. Yadav (Superintendent Engineer)-Suspended for financial irregularities at the sanitary landfill site, Bhalswa.
Manish Kumar (Administration Officer) and Vijay Kumar (Regional Inspector)-Suspended for the delay in the processing of papers for mutation of properties in the South Zone.
Anju Bhutani (Deputy Controller of Accounts): Suspended for not dealing with banks on matters relating to withdrawal of pension cases.
Srinivas (Assistant Engineer Narela) and Sankhya Mishra (Junior Engineer Narela)?Suspended for failure to stop unauthorized construction that led to the recent collapse of an under-construction warehouse in Alipore’s Bakoli village, killing five people.
In another move, the Lt Governor has also cleared the CBI to prosecute a sub-registrar of the Delhi government’s revenue department for illegally regularising at least 50 unauthorised constructions in the Karol Bagh area. Raj Pal, posted as Sub Registrar-III at Asaf Ali Road, is accused of registering unauthorised properties without affixing the requisite stamp of “Unauthorized Construction” on the sale deeds. Rajpal had registered 50 such properties during the period from 21 July 2015 to 26 September 2018.
