New Delhi, February 16: A man allegedly tried to enter the residence of National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Dolal in New Delhi on Wednesday morning with a car. But the security personnel apprehended the accused. Later the matter was reported to Delhi Police and other intelligence agencies.
However, as soon as the information was received, the Special Cell team took the accused into custody and brought him to the police station.
After a day-long interrogation, the accused revealed his name as Shantanu Reddy (43), a resident of Bangalore, Karnataka. The accused also claimed that there was a chip in his body, whose remote control was with someone else. The accused was repeatedly changing his statement.
Police sources say that after preliminary investigation, it appears that the accused is mentally ill. Delhi Police is trying to trace the youth and his family by contacting Karnataka Police.
Apart from the special cell, the IB team was interrogating the accused till late evening.
According to the police, NSA Ajit Doval has a bungalow in the New Delhi area. Doval lives here with his family. He was present in his bungalow on Wednesday morning. During that time around 7.30 pm, the accused suddenly tried to enter the NSA’s house with a red colored SUV.
The CISF personnel present at the gate immediately overpowered the accused. After searching him and the car, the matter was informed to the police at around 7.35 pm.
Meanwhile, a panic was broken out in the capital as soon as the news came to know about the attempt of the youth to enter the NSA’s house. Barricading was done in the entire city and investigation was started.
On the other hand, the team of Special Cell immediately reached the NSA bungalow and the accused was taken into custody. He was brought to the office of the Special Cell located in Lodhi Colony.
During interrogation here, the accused told that there is a chip in his body. Someone else has his remote. When the police investigated it, no such chip was found in his body.
After investigation, it was found that the car in which the accused had reached the NSA’s house was rented by him in Noida.
During interrogation, the accused is repeatedly changing his statement. Is the mental condition of the accused really not well or is he pretending. Efforts are also being made to find out when and how the accused came to Delhi from Karnataka.
His call details are also being probed. Efforts are on to ascertain with whom the accused was in contact.
Police officials say that the interrogation of the accused is still going on. As of now, he has not been arrested yet. It is noteworthy that NSA Ajit Dolal has always been in the hit list of terrorists. Last year, a video of the raid of his house was found with a Jaish terrorist. After which his security was increased to Z-plus. CISF commandos are stationed at his house.
