ABVP triumphs over JNU student union polls

New Delhi, April 27: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has performed unprecedentedly in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student union elections and has registered a historic victory on 23 out of a total of 42 counselor posts in 16 schools and various joint centers of the university. This is the highest compared to any other student organization.

ABVP JNU unit president Rajeshwar Kant Dubey said on Sunday that “the ABVP has won 23 out of 42 seats in the JNUSU Council and has captured more than fifty percent presence in the council, due to which ABVP will now be able to get an important place in the decisions taken by JNUSU. This victory is the victory of the positive change in the form of ABVP which the students of JNU have chosen.”

Details of ABVP’s victorious performance

-School of International Studies: Victory on 2 out of 5 seats.

-School of Social Science: Won 2 out of 5 seats.

-School of Biotechnology: Won 1 out of 2 seats.

-Special Centre for Molecular Medicine: Won 1 out of 1 seats.

-School of Computational and Integrative Science: Won 1 out of 2 seats.

-School of Computer and Systems Science: Won 2 out of 3 seats.

-School of Engineering: Won 4 out of 4 seats (all seats occupied)

-Special Centre for Nanoscience: Won 1 out of 1 seat.

-School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies: Won 3 out of 3 seats. (absolute majority)

-Amalgamated Centre: Won 2 out of 2 seats.

-School of Environmental Science: Won 1 out of 2 seats.

-Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Management and Entrepreneurship: Won 1 out of 1 seat.

-School of Physical Science: Won 2 out of 3 seats.

Two historic successes of ABVP in this election

-In the School of Social Science, which has been considered the stronghold of the left in JNU, ABVP has indicated a historic change by winning two seats after 25 years.

-Similarly, in the School of International Studies, which has been a major center of leftist influence for a long time, ABVP has established a new political stream by winning two seats.

Apart from this, in all the four major seats of the central panel, President- Shikha Swaraj, Vice President- Nittu Gautam, General Secretary- Kunal Rai and Joint Secretary- Vaibhav Meena have been leading since the beginning.
