Mahakumbh Nagar, 05 January: The Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested the person who threatened to blow up the Maha Kumbh Mela to be held in Prayagraj with a bomb from Purnia district of Bihar.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kumbh Mela Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi said on Sunday that the name of the arrested accused is Ayush Kumar Jaiswal. He had threatened on social media with a fake ID named ‘Nasir Pathan’. After this the police started searching for him.
On the basis of location, Prayagraj Police along with Bihar Police nabbed Ayush from ward number four of Shahidganj Panchayat of Purnia. Confirming this, Bhawanipur Police Station Head Sunil Kumar of Bihar has told that UP Police has arrested the accused Ayush and taken him with them.
He told that in the preliminary interrogation it has been found that after threatening on December 31, 2024, the accused fled to Nepal. The police is now trying to find out who he met in Nepal and what were his activities there. It is also being investigated whether any of his accomplices were involved in this conspiracy or not.
Purnia Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma said that the UP Police is taking the accused to Prayagraj for questioning. Also, the local police is also investigating his contacts and Nepal visit in depth. Giving threats from a fake ID makes this matter more serious.
The UP Police has registered a case against Ayush under several sections in Parade Kotwali of Mahakumbh Mela area. The priority of the police is to find out whether Ayush was alone in giving threats or it is part of a larger conspiracy. The Kotwali police is taking legal action in this regard.
