Lucknow, 17 November: In a campaign conducted under ‘Mission Shakti’, anti-Romeo squad of the Uttar Pradesh police took action against 3,195 people under the ‘Gunda Act’ in 15 days.
Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Law and Order Prashant Kumar said that the anti-Romeo team has taken action from November 1 to November 15 as part of the ‘Mission Shakti’ campaign aimed at further strengthening the security of women and girls.
The Romeo team has checked in around 95,475 places including public places, crossroads, markets, schools and crossroads. During this, 3, 83,806 persons have been checked.
However, action has been taken against 18,831 persons under Section 107/116. Strict action has been taken against 7,264 persons under section 151 and 551 persons under section 294 and 3,195 persons under ‘Gunda Act’.
