Adequate stock of wheat in country, no plan to import: Centre

New Delhi, August 21: The Food and Public Distribution Department on Sunday clarified that the country has sufficient stock of wheat, so it has no plans to import wheat.

The clarification from the department came on reports claiming that the central government was considering importing wheat. The department said that there is no such plan to import wheat into India. The country has enough stock to meet our domestic requirements and the Food Corporation has enough stock for public distribution.

A news portal had claimed in its news that the government’s stock of wheat is depleting and they can import it.
