Lucknow, 11 Oct: On Wednesday, Akhilesh Yadav, the head of the Samajwadi Party, was refused admission to the Jai Prakash Narayan International Centre (JPNIC) in Lucknow.

His objective was to pay his respects to Jayaprakash Narayan, a renowned independence warrior and notable anti-emergency advocate, on the occasion of his birth anniversary.

Officials, however, claimed security concerns as the reason for refusing entrance to the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister inside the Jai Prakash Narayan International Centre.

After the clearance was denied, Akhilesh Yadav and other Samajwadi Party officials took matters into their own hands. They were observed climbing over the building’s boundary wall. This unlawful admission created a tumultuous scenario, with police attempting to bar SP workers and leaders from entering the premises.

In their efforts to disperse the throng, the police used light force. In response to the denial of entry, Akhilesh Yadav tweeted on X, “On the birth anniversary of the great socialist thinker Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan ji, is the path of JPNIC being obstructed by putting up these tin sheets to prevent the SP from laying the wreath… The fact is that the BJP is scared of replicating the memory of Loknayak Jayprakash ji’s anti-corruption, anti-unemployment, and anti-inflation struggle, because corruption, unemployment, and inflation were many times higher under the BJP’s leadership than since then.”

“Will we now have to call for a ‘complete revolution’ like Jayaprakash Narayan ji, even for garlanding? If it is the BJP’s decision, that is good,” Yadav remarked. Akhilesh Yadav, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, opened the Jai Prakash Narayan International Centre (JPNIC) on October 11, 2016.

Following the BJP’s election victory in 2017, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s office received a recommendation to launch a “special audit” of funds allocated for the construction of the Jai Prakash Narayan International Centre (JPNIC) and two other projects overseen directly by Akhilesh Yadav.

Akhilesh was in head of the housing department, which was in responsible for these initiatives.
