Agriculture sector gets a boost in Union Budget 24-25

New Delhi, July 23: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday presented the Union Budget 2024-25 of Modi 3.0 in the Lok Sabha. In her budget speech, Sitharaman announced an allocation of ₹1.52 lakh crore for agriculture and allied sectors.

Sitharaman said that India’s economic growth still remains a great exception. It will remain so in the coming year. She said that India’s inflation remains low and stable, moving towards the target of four percent. The Finance Minister said, “I am happy to announce the Prime Minister’s package of five schemes and initiatives to facilitate employment, skills and other opportunities for 4.1 crore youth in five years with a central outlay of ₹2 lakh crore. This year we have made a provision of ₹1.48 lakh crore for education, employment and skills. Sitharaman said that as mentioned in the interim budget, we need to focus on four different castes, poor, women, youth and farmers. For farmers, we have announced higher minimum support prices for all major crops, fulfilling the promise of at least 50 percent margin over cost.”

She said that the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana was extended for five years, which has benefited more than 80 crore people. Nirmala Sitharaman said that the budget has nine priorities of the government, including productivity in farming, employment and capacity development, overall human resource development and social justice, manufacturing and services, urban development, energy security, infrastructure, innovation, research and development and next generation reforms.
