Lucknow, 19 June: The name of Akbar Nagar in Lucknow is now recorded in the pages of history. When the work of demolition of Akbar Nagar, built on the land of Kukrail river, reached the final stage, the last mosque remaining there was also demolished late last night.

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) officials completed the work of demolition of the last mosque around 2 o’clock on Tuesday night. As soon as the last mosque fell, there was mourning in the surrounding Muslim areas. After the morning prayers in other nearby mosques, the issue of demolition of the Mohammadi Mosque of Akbar Nagar remained in the news.

In the last forty-eight hours, two mosques and a temple were demolished in Akbar Nagar. The first mosque was demolished using JCB and a bulldozer had to be used for the second mosque. The size of the temple was very small, so the idols were removed by uprooting it with the help of a machine. Due to the demolition of mosques, police teams were deployed on the roads leading to Akbar Nagar. The policemen did not leave their posting place even for a few minutes.

After the statement given by Maulana Kausar Hayat on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the issue of Akbar Nagar, Lucknow Police took more precautions in the entire area. By demolishing the illegal construction of eleven hundred and sixty-nine illegally built houses and one hundred and one commercial buildings, Akbar Nagar was converted into a flat land.

The land was vacated for the riverfront to be built on the banks of Kukrail river. On the orders of the Supreme Court and the High Court, LDA has taken the entire campaign in its hands.
