Amethi: District Social Welfare officer forcibly transferred money to his wife’s account, alleges clerk, minister orders probe

Lucknow, March 12: A clerk of the Social Welfare department has made a serious allegation of corruption against Manoj Kumar Shukla, District Social Welfare officer of Amethi district.

As soon as the information about the case was received, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Social Welfare Department, Asim Arun, has sent the Deputy Director of Ayodhya Division to the spot and ordered Director Kumar Prashant to get the investigation done.

Clerk Gokul Prasad had given a letter to the District Magistrate (DM). He alleged that on December 26, 2024, the Social Welfare Officer called him to his office and forcibly took the mobile and password of Phone-Pay and transferred Rs 40 thousand to the account of his wife Anju Shukla.

Gokul Prasad has also given an evidence of the transaction of money in his complaint. Taking the complaint seriously, the Social Welfare Minister has ordered an investigation and has ordered the departmental director to inform about the report by March 20.

Minister Asim Arun said on Wednesday that the state government is continuously attacking corruption and corrupt people under zero tolerance. No kind of corruption will be tolerated in the department. After investigation, strict action will be taken against the guilty officer so that such incidents do not recur in future.
