Delhi, 14 December: On Thursday, union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to present the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2023 in the Rajya Sabha for discussion and approval.
This bill aims to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, which was passed by the Lok Sabha on December 12.
The main objective of this bill is to provide reservation for women in the legislative assembly of the union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. This move is seen as a step towards promoting greater representation and participation of women in the decision-making process.
In addition, the Government of union Territories (Amendment) Bill will also be tabled for consideration, which seeks to reserve one-third of the seats in the Legislative Assembly of Puducherry for women. This reflects the government’s commitment towards empowering women in various spheres of society.
Along with these bills, union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will also present the Appropriation (No.4) Bill, which will authorize the appropriation of funds for certain services during the financial year 2020-21. These bills signify the government’s determination to bring about positive changes and promote inclusivity in our society.
