Jammu, 29 December: The security forces are completely foiling the conspiracies of terrorist organizations from across the border. Along with foiling the infiltration of terrorists from across the border, the terrorists who have entered into Indian territory are also being searched and killed.
Out of the 70 terrorists killed in the state so far this year, 42 are foreigners. This is a record of killing foreign terrorists. The security forces have killed 17 foreign terrorists near the LoC or International Border (IB) while trying to enter the Jammu and Kashmir.
The Indian Army, along with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF personnel, has launched a campaign to search and capture or kill terrorists and their helpers throughout Jammu and Kashmir, especially in the Kashmir Valley. The vigilance of the Border Security Force (BSF) and Army personnel on the border is so extensive that terrorists cannot escape from sight.
In the interior areas of the state, terrorists are being killed as soon as they come out of their hideouts. A few days ago, security forces killed five terrorists including the operational commander of Hizbul Mujahideen in a fierce encounter in Kulgam. With their death, the terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen has almost been wiped out in Kashmir. Now only two to three of its terrorists are left alive in Kashmir, who are on the target of security forces and can be killed in a few days.
Officials associated with the security forces have told that in the current year, 42 foreign terrorists have been killed in different encounters with security forces in Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, Kulgam, Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua, Doda and Rajouri. The maximum number of 14 foreign terrorists have been killed in Baramulla district. Several encounters have taken place between security forces and terrorists in Sabura Nala Uri, Chak Tappar, Kariri, Kamalkot Uri, Naupora, Hadipora, Sagipora, Watargam and Rajpora Sopore of Baramulla. This year, the highest number of 12 terrorists have been killed in Kupwara district.
As per the official sources, three foreign terrorists have been killed in an encounter in Akhnoor sector. Four terrorists have been killed in two encounters in Doda district. Two foreign terrorists have been killed in Saida Hiranagar of Kathua. Two foreign terrorists have also been killed in Khandra Top Basangarh of Udhampur. A foreign terrorist of Jaish-e-Mohammed was killed in Srinagar district.
One foreign terrorist has been killed in Bandipora and one in Kulgam. Two foreign terrorists have been killed this year in Naushera of Rajouri district. A day after the killing of terrorist Farooq Ahmad Butt alias Nally and his four companions a few days ago, Hizbul Mujahideen has handed over the command of its organization in Jammu and Kashmir to a terrorist named Tariq ul Islam.
Apart from this, Ghazi Mahmood Ghaznavi has been made the Deputy Chief Operational Commander of South Kashmir. Hizbul has ordered the new terrorist commanders to increase terrorist activities and speed up new recruitment. Both these names have been agreed upon in the presence of Syed Salahuddin in the meeting of the Supreme Command Council of Hizbul in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar has said that the army’s focus against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir is on breaking the cycle of violence and destroying the terrorist ecosystem and empowering the youth.
He has said that peace, prosperity and improvement in the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir is the result of the collective efforts of the Indian Army and other agencies. The focus at this time is on breaking the cycle of violence, dismantling the terrorist machinery, empowering youth and women, facilitating education, promoting sports and reviving the rich historical and cultural heritage of the region.
He informed that in the last five years, security forces have killed 720 terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. As far as the remaining terrorists are concerned, various agencies are updating the figures which are between 120 to 130. The recruitment figures are now in single digits and it is at its lowest level.
He said that the adversary is frustrated due to our successes. Their goal is to cross over the terrorists, but we have foiled the infiltration attempts. Their goal is to spread fear among the population, but we will not let this happen. Peace, prosperity and improvement in security situation is the result of collective efforts of the Indian Army and all other agencies and stakeholders.
He assured that the Indian Army will continue to strive to provide a safe environment for the people of Jammu and Ladakh. Various agencies are carrying out operations to achieve results. The Village Defense Group (VDG) has ensured the security of remote areas for decades. The VDG setup is being strengthened, with more than 600 VDGs being set up and 10,000 modern weapons being provided to them. They are also being trained.
