Kolkata, 09 March: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has removed Virendra Kumar, the Director General of Police (DGP) West Bengal, who has been accused of repeatedly benefiting the ruling party Trinamool Congress (TMC) ahead of the impending assembly elections in West Bengal.
In a statement released by the Election Commission on Tuesday evening, it has been said that Neeraj P Nayan has been appointed as the DGP WB in his place.
Neeraj Nayan is a 1987 batch IPS officer. Virender Kumar and other opposition parties, including the BJP, continued to accuse him of working in favour of the ruling party. For this reason, the Election Commission has taken action against him.
