Varanasi, 05 October: The court has given four weeks more time to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to conduct the survey in the Gyanvapi complex. The District Judge’s court on Thursday gave a conditional order that after this the period of the survey will not be extended.
On behalf of the ASI team, Central Government’s Standing Counsel Amit Kumar Srivastava had filed an application in the court of District Judge Ajay Krishna Vishvesh last Wednesday for granting four more weeks for the survey.
After hearing the application, the District Judge ordered extension of time. Before this, ASI had to file the report of the ongoing survey in Gyanvapi complex on 06 October. The defendant party objected to the extension of the survey period for the second time.
On the other hand, hearing of all other cases of Gyanvapi will now be held on October 12. It is noteworthy that on July 21, the District Court had ordered to file the report of ASI survey in Gyanvapi by August 4.
After this, after the survey started on 24th July, the survey work was stopped till 3rd August due to the orders of first Supreme Court and then Allahabad High Court on the application of the defendant party.
In such a situation, the ASI team requested the District Court to give more time of four weeks to complete the survey. The court gave four more weeks to submit the survey report on August 5. After this, on September 8, the district court had given four weeks more time to the ASI to complete the survey work.
