Varanasi, 18 Dec: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) finally filed its findings on the scientific examination of the Gyanvapi mosque grounds on Monday, after numerous delays.
The report was sent to Varanasi District Judge A K Vishvesha in a sealed envelope. The report will be discussed by the court on December 21.
The Muslim side had filed a plea in court prior to the study’s submission, requesting that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) submit the findings under a sealed cover.
According to others, no one should be permitted to make the report public without an affidavit. The Hindu side, on the other hand, asked the court to make the report public and to issue copies to all parties concerned.
The survey paper is more than 1,000 pages long.
According to the Hindu petitioners’ lawyer, Madan Mohan Yadav, “the report in a sealed cover was placed before the court by ASI’s standing counsel, Amit Srivastava.”
Following the district judge’s July 21 ruling, the ASI performed a scientific assessment of the Gyanvapi complex in Varanasi.
On August 4, the Supreme Court refused to prevent the Archaeological Survey of India from assessing the Gyanvapi mosque, excluding the ‘wuzukhana’ section where a ‘shivlling’ was allegedly discovered last year.
