Prayagraj, June 20: The Prayagraj police have discovered the role of deceased Atiq Ahmad’s son Ali, who is being held at Naini jail, in the conspiracy that led to the murder of Umesh Pal, a critical witness in the Raju Pal murder.
According to police sources, three of the gunmen implicated in the murder of lawyer Umesh Pal visited Ali in Naini Central Jail before February 24. Police have obtained CCTV video of Guddu Muslim, Ghulam, and another accused Sadaqat entering the Naini Central Jail from the gate.
Police investigations have also revealed the participation of Atiq’s eldest son Umar, who is now being held in the Lucknow Jail.
With proof in hand indicating Ali and Umar’s participation in the case, the police have included it in the case diary. According to an official, the police want to insert their names as suspects in the case and interrogate them in jail after securing a warrant from the court.
Previously, the police discovered after an inquiry that the assailants had met Ashraf at Bareilly Jail before to the murder of Umesh Pal. CCTV footage showing Atiq’s son Asad, assailants Guddu Muslim, Ghulam, Armaan, Vijay Chaudhary, Sabir, and Sadaqat entering the Bareilly Jail premises went viral.
According to police sources, they met Ashraf on February 12 and planned the murder inside the jail.
According to authorities, Guddu Muslim, Ghulam, and Sadaqat visited Atiq’s son Ali in Naini Central Jail after meeting Ashraf at Bareilly jail. The CCTV footage of the trio was discovered and seized as evidence by police.
