Ayodhya, October 26: For the eighth Deepotsav (festival of light), volunteers left for the Deepotsav venue on Saturday with the slogan Jai Shri Ram. The work of laying ‘diyas’ (earthen lamps) on the Ghats of ‘Ram Ki Paidi’ in Ayodhya city was kicked off by volunteers. The enthusiasm of the volunteers while laying the lamps is worth seeing. Chanting of ‘Jai Shri Ram’, will make the first Deepotsav after Prana Pratishtha ( consecration) ceremony more grand.
Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University administration has come to Ram Ki Paidi by buses wearing T-shirts and caps to make the provincialized Deepotsav grand. Under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof Pratibha Goyal, arrangements have been made to bring and take volunteers under the supervision of Prof Anup Kumar, Convener of Deepotsav Traffic Committee, to make Deepotsav historic.
Deepotsav Nodal Officer Prof Sant Sharan Mishra said that for the grandeur of Deepotsav, the supply of consignment of lamps has been completed at 55 ghats. The work of laying lamps on the ghats has been started from Saturday. The work of laying lamps on war footing will start from Sunday at 55 ghats and will be completed by 28 October. From 29, the counting of lamps will be done by the Guinness Book of World Records team. On the day of Deepotsav, on 30 October, volunteers will do the work of pouring oil in the lamps, putting wick and lighting them.
He said that in this Deepotsav, university campus, 14 colleges, 37 inter colleges and 40 voluntary organizations have been engaged.
He also apprised that volunteers are being sent by these institutions to Ram Ki Paidi and other Deepotsav sites by buses. The buses left from the university campus at 10 am. Identity cards have been provided to all the volunteers by the departments. Along with this, T-shirts and caps have been distributed to them. Entry to the ghats will be prohibited without Identity card, T-shirt and cap. Media in-charge Dr Vijayendu Chaturvedi said that the Vice Chancellor is providing guidelines to various committees for the success of Deepotsav.
