Lucknow, 30 Oct: For the first time, the BJP in Uttar Pradesh intends to undergo deeper organizational churning by replacing a slew of “unresponsive” and “careless” party office bearers in at least 200 divisions (mandals) spread across the politically critical state. The party has split the state into 1,918 divisions, each with 90 polling stations.
According to sources, the UP BJP leadership has already dispatched a slew of party officials to examine the situation in the specified divisions and provide a thorough report as soon as feasible. As a result, a slew of booth-level officials will be removed, according to a senior supervisor. According to sources, these splits are primarily inside parliamentary and assembly seats that the BJP was unable to win in the 2019 Lok Sabha and 2022 assembly elections.
The development comes little over a month after the BJP overhauled the organization’s machinery by replacing almost 70% of the district presidents. The party has already reshuffled regional officials. A slew of top party officials, including district in-charges and presidents of major organizational fronts, are also set to be removed.
According to sources, several of the newly appointed district heads were dissatisfied with the performance of some divisional and booth-level office bearers and advocated their replacement. “There were also complaints about some of the workers not getting actively involved in party-related work,” a senior party leader explained.
According to UP BJP spokesman Hero Bajpai, the exercise was widely awaited in order to freshen up grassroots level activity. “There have been reports of certain party workers being unresponsive. They must be altered. That is how the BJP has operated,” he stated.
According to political observers, the BJP was chiefly alarmed by increased electoral effort at the grassroots level by an aggressive opposition, primarily the Samajwadi Party and Congress, ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
