New Delhi, July 21: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Droupadi Murmu has been elected as the 15th President of the India. She is the second woman to reach this top position.
Coming from tribal society, Murmu has created history by reaching the highest constitutional post of the country. She is the first tribal woman to reach this position.
BJP President JP Nadda visited Murmu’s residence and congratulated him. At the same time, the rival Yashwant Sinha has also congratulated the newly elected President by tweeting.
Announcing the results of the counting of votes for the Presidential elections, Rajya Sabha Secretary General PC Modi said that Droupadi Murmu has got votes worth 5,77,777. On the other hand, opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha has got votes worth 2, 61,062.
He said that there were a total of 3219 valid votes in the presidential election, whose value is 8,38,839. Out of this, Droupadi Murmu got a total of 2161 votes worth 5,77,777. At the same time, Sinha got a total of 1058 votes worth 2, 61,062.
The Rajya Sabha Secretary General said that in the third phase of counting, there were a total of 1333 valid votes in the states of Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha and Punjab with a value of 1, 65,664. Out of this, Droupadi Murmu got 812 votes and Yashwant Sinha got 521 votes.
Earlier, in the second phase of counting, the ballot papers of the first 10 states were counted in alphabetical order. In which there were a total of 1138 valid votes and their total value is 1, 49,575. Out of this, Droupadi Murmu got 809 votes worth 1,05,299 and Yashwant Sinha got 329 votes worth 44,276.
It is noteworthy that NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu got 3, 78,000 votes in the first phase of counting. At the same time, Yashwant Sinha has got 1, 45,600 votes of importance.
In the first phase, Droupadi Murmu has secured 540 votes with a weightage of 3, 78,000 and Yashwant Sinha has secured 208 votes with a weightage of 1, 45,600. A total of 15 votes were invalid. These are the figures of polling held in Parliament House.
