Sambhal, 28 December: ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ was performed on Saturday with due rituals for the construction of a police post near the “disputed” Jama Masjid in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh.

The puja was completed by Pandit Shobhit Shastri with Vedic chanting. Additional Superintendent of Police Shrishchandra was present with the police force during the Puja.

The work of digging the foundation with a JCB for the post was started after measuring the empty ground near the Jama Masjid on Friday.

After presenting the claim of Harihar temple in Sambhal Jama Masjid in the local lower court, the Advocate Commissioner appointed by the court along with the team conducted a survey in Jama Masjid on November 19. Seeing the night time and the crowd, the survey work was postponed midway for security reasons.

After this, on November 24, the team started surveying the mosque and after some time, a crowd of 700-800 people gathered in the Jama Masjid area went berserk which took the form of a terrible violence. Four youths died in arson, stone pelting and firing. Many policemen were injured. Government vehicles were vandalized. The administration and police somehow managed the situation.

On Friday, the Sambhal district administration took a big decision to build a new police post in the vacant ground near the disputed Shahi Jama Masjid and after Jumme ki Namaz, the place for the police post was marked and measured etc. During this, a large number of police forces including Additional SP and Area Officer Shrishchandra were present. After this, the work of digging the foundation for the construction of the police post was started by JCB. This under-construction police post can be named ‘Satyavrat Police Post’.

After the ‘Bhoomi Pujan’, Additional Superintendent of Police Shrishchandra said that for security reasons, it has been decided to build a police post at this place. Keeping in mind the mythological and historical importance of Sambhal, this name has been proposed.
