Several passersby were seen recording the big crater on the Vikas Nagar road in their phones, also complaining about the apathy towards constructing the road properly by the concerned authority.
Ajay, a resident of Sector 2 of Vikas Nagar, said that the road kept sinking in front of his eyes during the day and within a few minutes a big pit was formed there. After the road collapsed, police barricading has been installed there. After a few minutes, the officials of Municipal Corporation and Public Works Department were informed by phone. The police team of Vikas Nagar police station reached the spot, who cordoned off the collapsed road.ย
Another resident Amit Agarwal said that two years ago, the road had collapsed while turning from Gulachin Hanuman Temple towards Vikas Nagar in Vikas Nagar. The road could be built only after a few months. Then last year, the road collapsed once again near the power house of Vikas Nagar. This time it was too much, we did not think that the road would cave in so soon.ย
Amit further apprised that on receiving information about the incident in Vikas Nagar Sector 2, the employees of the Municipal Corporation reached the spot and explained the reason for the soil beneath the road being washed away. The employees said that the road had weakened and caved in due to soil being washed away due to rain.
